The Imitation Game (2014)

The Imitation Game (2014) a film based on the incredible true story of Alan Turing.

In my view…
An historic true film about the World War II, but a different one than you mostly expect when somebody says: a film about the World War II. Most of the times you expect fighting soldiers, the smoke of the guns, the huge tanks in the narrow streets of the old towns, bunkers, submarine dramas and sharp sound of falling bombs out of the sky from swift airplanes. But no, this film is not focussing on that. The film is based on the real-life story of Alan Turing, a genius cryptanalyst whose job is during the war to solve the messenger code of the Germans called Enigma.

The film has a really good cast who represents their characters very well. The genius cryptanalyst Alan Turing is played by Benedict Cumberbatch. The character he has to play and the character he plays in the series Sherlock are quite familiar. By this film you expect what you expect from Benedict Cumberbatch as an actor: quick speaking, quick thinking, quick sentences, answers and sometimes a bit playfully rude. Other famous actors of the film you find in the fact list.
I am not telling about the story – never do in my film reviews – you have to see the film yourself and make your own opinion. I hope you like the film too. It is worth to watch it multiple times.

  1. I’ve only seen the previews but it looks like a good movie and I like Benedict Cumberbatch as an actor. It’s unfortunate about Turing’s problems after the war, which I won’t mention as they may be part of the movie. Wikipedia can enlighten anyone’s curiosity anyway.

    1. It’s definitely a film I can recommend. And true, I didn’t mention his after war problems because it is part of the film and sadly of the true story too. But I can say this about his after war problems in the film: you can feel, the tension that the screen tries to bring over, that his problems mean a lot. And also to whom. It means a lot more than the time it has taken in the film, and the effect….you walk out the cinema…thinking with the famous words: what if?…
