MTV Movie Awards 2017 | Best Actor winner Emma Watson speech

Last Sunday were the MTV Movie and TV Awards of 2017.

I remember watching this event as a teenager, ready in front of the television to see the highlights that were broadcast in The Netherlands. This year Emma Watson has won the first gender neutral award for best Actor in a film. She has won this for her acting in the film ‘Beauty and the Beast’.  Once again, Emma Watson has given an incredible speech. Let her inspire you!

Enjoy watching  the short video!

A few favourite quotes:

  • “The first acting award in history, that does not separate nominees based on their sex. Says something about how we perceive human experience.”
  • “Empathy and the ability to use your imagination, should have no limits.”
  • “I am so proud to be a part of a film that celebrates diversity, literacy, inclusion, joy and love the way that this one does.”

She give thanks to:

  • The person who announced her and gave her the award
  • The writer of the original Belle
  • The writer of the book on what the animated film was based on
  • The actor of the original Belle
  • Every single person who voted for Emma Watson
  • The other nominated people alongside her
  • Anyone and everyone who had anything to do with giving Emma Watson this opportunity and for supporting her on that journey.

Let her speech be an inspiration for your own speeches

YouTube | Lindsey Stirling – Beauty and The Beast

Today I discovered this beautiful music video on YouTube from Lindsey Stirling.

The new film of Beauty and The Beast with Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as The Beast, had its première the 23rd of February in London.

It will be further released in cinemas on March 16, 2017 (Eastern Europe), March 17, 2017 (other parts of the world and USA), and in The Netherlands on March 29, 2017.

Why is it released so late in The Netherlands, or is it because of the translation…I don’t know…does not happen that often such a day difference. In Belgium it will be released on March 22, 2017.

Lindsey Stirling is a multi skilled artist: violinist, dancer, performance artist. She combines choreography with playing the violin.

And she is the upcoming weeks in Europe! (one mentioned per country, sometimes more events in a country; check it here)

European Tour

  • March 14, 2017: Jahrhunderthalle – Frankfurt, Germany
  • March 15, 2017: Hallenstadion – Zürich, Switzerland

  • March 18, 2017: Rockhal – Luxembourg, Luxembourg

International Women’s Day 2017

Today March 8th, 2017 it is International Women’s Day!

One woman inspired me in september 2014.

Her speech is since then my inspiration: Emma Watson at the HeForShe Campaign 2014 – Official UN Video

These are my inspirations for today, it all starts with awareness, gender equality:

YouTube: HeForShe Arts Week 2017 Press Launch

This is a video where you see in the first few minutes how it all started with the HeForShe Campaign and everything that has been done the past 2,5 years. A wonderful inspiration and it creates awareness widely.(68:40 min)

Are you #HeForShe? Make the commitment:

“Stand Together. What we share is more powerful than what divides us. Take action now to create a gender equal world.”

Take action or part in one of these issues:

London Grammar – Rooting For You

A bit of history of London Grammar

With the new year, London Grammar, a music trio formed by Hannah Reid, Daniel Rothman and Dominic (Dot) Major. Their debut was back in february 2013 with the EP ‘Metal & Dust’. They released their album ‘If You Wait’ in September 2013 and two music videos were released in 2014. After that it was a bit quiet for the past two years. But now, at the start of 2017 they have released a new song and a new music video! The second video they have uploaded with the YouTube London Grammar Vevo account.

The video

In the first part Hannah sings just a capella, but halfway she is accompanied by a strings ensemble and a piano, directed by a conductor.

Hannah has a beautiful voice that reminds a bit of several artists. It sounds like a mix of all of them. Such as: Anouk Teeuwe (Dutch artist), Lisa Gerrard, the Celtic Woman group. Lovely mixture and I had never heard of this British group before.

Nat King Cole – Autumn Leaves

When I was cycling home today, suddenly the leaves were falling of the trees.

Autumn has really started. Orange beautiful autumn leaves.

And when I was cycling through that rain of orange autumn leaves, this song was in my mind.

A song I learned as a child in a summer choir. Sung by one person or sung by many people together, this is a really strong song.

Found a beautiful version performed by Nat King Cole. The performance of  The Nat King Cole Show on October 29th, 1957:

LuckyTV: Donald Trump vs Hillary Clinton “Time of my Life” (Official)

This video went viral today on the internet. A funny video of the debate between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. The song ‘Time of our lives’ from the film Dirty Dancing. Brilliantly made in just a few hours by Sander van de Pavert for the Dutch television program De Wereld Draait Door (DWDD) (‘The world goes round n round’). I rarely write about politics but this video brought more happiness to me than the debate. Well…since they don’t have made a decision about who has won the debate…

Who would have won the singing contest?

Pentatonix & Dolly Parton – Jolene

This music video of the a capella group Pentatonix and Dolly Parton is recently published on YouTube.
Many songs sung by Pentatonix are beautiful covers and this one is a special with Dolly Parton.
A nice cooperation for this beautiful song. Totally a capella.
The song is originally sung by Dolly Parton herself and the first release was in october 1973.
That’s nearly 43 years ago! Just a song of a bit over two and a half minute produced as a single on a 7″ record.

What is your opinion about this song, now sung by Pentatonix and Dolly Parton?
