Halloween 2018

Halloween is celebrated tonight and is an annual holiday with its origin in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. The festival where people would light bonfires and wear costumes to chase away ghosts. Back in the time of the Celts it was celebrated on the 1st of November. Nowadays, since the eighth century, the 1st of November is All Saints Day. Introduced by Pope Gregory III.

A couple of inspirational ideas how to dress up for a festivity, what to have for foods and drinks or watch a film or series.

Theme: Motivational Quotes

This weekend is one of the last study weekends of the year and the weather is really good, except for studying inside. The sun is shining and it is circa 28 degrees all day; predicted for all week! These quotes remind me of staying strong, going outside for a walk or the necessary groceries and further on study on…right now I am finishing my internship report.

Accompanied by my laptop, Chromebook – multiple screens that way -, iPhone (quick little researches), a bottle of water and cereals for breakfast, bread for lunch and a salad for dinner. And my desert: well it is e pre-desert, a lovely ice cream cone with an ice cream scoop in the afternoon. Every day a different flavor, but only for this weekend, only this time when I am gathering the scattered pieces of heavy lead to become one piece: the final internship report.

Happy Easter 2018!

The first days of April are the Easter Days of 2018!

I wish you all a Happy Easter 2018!

And a little fact about rabbits: I never eat them, nor a haze, except for a chocolate rabbit! I do eat chicken eggs, a lovely omelet, and chocolate eggs.

Yesterday when it was the first of April and Easter day, I had a lovely family dinner and the first course was based on a recipe I found on Pinterest:

All of my other Easter inspirations I collected at my Easter Pinterest board.

Pinterest | Valentines Day

Tomorrow it is the 14th of February which is also known as ‘Valentines Days’. I hope you all have a lovely day because every day should be a happy lovely day. The most important thing is that you are happy! If you have a special person in your life, celebrate together the happiness. If you have an aminal or a lovely family or friends, think about them too and just share the happiness.

Though this sounds happy and happy and happy, we must not forget that there are also people on their own or alone in the world. Some choose and some don’t choose but it just happens in life now and then. Whatever the reason why it happened and that person will be alone tomorrow – it could be because of war, illness, unfortunate events or just heartbroken – like I said whatever the reason, you can do something. Because the least you can do is to give another person a warm smile.

Will it be while traveling, do some shopping, studying,  working, walking or just meeting people….

Don’t forget to smile tomorrow 🙂

And if you want to add some love:

On this Pinterest board I collect some inspirations and stuff related to Valentines Day or just love.

Technology Wearables and Artificial Intelligence

This evening I was scrolling through Pinterest in the category of Technology. Searching for nice infographics because you can quickly and easily learn from those infographics of different subjects. Text combined with images that add some value, help you to imagine what is meant.

I have found some interesting pins such as ‘The Economic Impact of Artificial Intelligence’ – presented at the end of the blog post.

But the most interesting pin is the one of the technologic wearables that are thought of nowadays. This infographic includes:

  • Bionic vision
  • Enhanced hearing
  • Vision impaired navigation
  • Toxic gas sensor
  • UV exposure monitor
  • Wearable translator
  • Smart jacket
  • Enhanced prosthesis
  • Digital interfaces
  • Asthma attack monitor
  • Artificial pancreas
  • Artificial kidney
  • Reproductive health monitor
  • Sensing VR
  • Superhuman exoskeletons
  • Tactile prosthesis
  • 3D-Printed insoles

Theme

Last night it was Halloween and I collected some pins on my pinterest Halloween board. These 5 are this year my favorites and I will try them one day. How has been your Halloween?

Descriptions for each pin

  1. The Baileys Vampire’s Kiss Shots look lovely and is nice to serve with a coffee in the evening instead of adding Baileys to your coffee.
  2.  A boo-nilla ghost milkshake is lovely for alcohol-free or gluten-free drinkers and for children it looks nice.
  3. An easy and quick lovely greetings decoration and you can change the eyeballs to candle lights for Christmas. Reuse of the decoration
  4. You can decorate your nails too to be in style with a little accent.
  5. This is one of the most original ideas I found: labeling your bottles of drinks with something Halloween or thriller party related names and descriptions of the ‘stuff’.

Happy Halloween 2017

The Halloween history

The origin of Halloween is discussed to be Gaelic with the Samhain festival, a Celtic harvest festival or that it was Christianized as Halloween or was a Christian holiday already for ages separate of the Samhain festival.

What is known is that the word ‘Halloween‘ is from Christian origin and dates back to 1745. It means ‘Holy Evening‘ and in Scottish it even means ‘All Hallows’ Eve‘. Which is the evening before ‘All Hallows’ Day’. The word combination ‘All Hallows’ dates back to the Old English era. The word is officially seen in 1556. Two ages before it was evolved to ‘Halloween’. And now Halloween is known for it’s sweets, decorations, costumes and being a scary related theme. A very creative event.

Halloween 2017

In the office we had today some lovely Halloween sweets made by a colleague. And I think she is a really good homebaker. She should maybe one day participate in an edition of the Great British Bake Off. Or similar in Germany.

And of course the internet is exploding with lots of created art, schminks, sweets, decorations and so on. I have collected lots of them on my Pinterest board ‘C&E | Halloween‘. I had a full work day, not a day off like some businesses or some countries as The United States. So I just collected some more pins today and tomorrow you’ll discover my Top Five of Today of Halloween pins.

What have you been doing during Halloween?

Pinterest | Top Five Today | Netflix Series

Are you curious for which series I am currently watching on Netflix?

On Wednesday I write about series. A series review or stuff related to series. To finish a series takes a lot of time, watching a lot of episodes and now and then it is more than others. A series can differ from two episodes in a season to twenty-three episodes in a season. Often a long documentary is split into multiple parts, for example two or three. But it is still a documentary because it is informative and made once without enlarging it every now and then. When a series has four or more episodes, I see it a real series. Not a documentary; independent of the category or subject.

Top Five Today

Hereby the five series I recently watch on Netflix. The posters gathered on my Pinterest.

The most royal series and therefore now one of my favorites. And oh the English accents, for a non-native English speaker / writer.
Year start: 2016 | Seasons: 2 | Categories: Drama, History

A story about a – partly criminal – family living in Birmingham in the 1918’s. Just after the war. Interesting subject and point of view during that decade.
Year start: 2013 | Seasons: 5 | Categories: Crime, Drama

What I like most about the series is that you can rarely predict the happenings, plot twists, change of characters and so on.
Year start: 2009 | Seasons: 8 | Categories: Drama, Fantasy, Horror.

If you have visited once – or plan to visit – one of the biggest in the history of Britain castles … this series is a nice addition of information and views of the territory and areas of the castle.
Year start: 2015 | Seasons: 2 | Categories: Documentary, History

Because of the combination of technology, the graphics and the fantasy futuristic story, I like this series a lot! A nice new Star Trek series. If you have seen none, one, two or even all of the films of Star Trek… this series is for everybody who loves a bit of technology and fantasy. You do not need prior to this series the knowledge of all the films and stuff… you can just start with this series as an independent series.
Year start: 2017 | Seasons: 1 | Category: Science-Fiction

 Which Series do you watch?

Pinterest | Top Five Today | Diana Spencer

At Pinterest I collect many inspirations, photographs, quotes and stuff. Divided into over more than one hundred categories in a logical order, I try to keep it simple and organised all I collect.

The choice for the Top Five Today subject: ‘Diana Spencer’

On this day, twenty years ago, Princess Diana the Princess of Wales died in a tragic car accident in Paris, France. The past couple of days I have watched several documentaries about her life. So this is a little tribute blog post. Many people say something about it, about her inspiration for others, about her life, about her happy and unhappiness and about their morning after the dreadful message. At the time she died I was 4,5 years old, being a little girl. So from my personal experience I have not much to say about it. Lots has been said, written, filmed, interviewed and photographed. I can just say: I can imagine a bit the effect of her character of love, empathy and helping others above your own, had upon people all around the world. And showing that if you have a sort of influence, power, position to do great things … than you have the possibility to help others in a great way. If your character allows it. Diana Spencer’s character did. Diana Spencer, the People’s Princess.

In this Pinterest blog post I share five – to me inspiring as a woman growing up – photographs of Diana Spencer.

Pinterest | Top Five Today | Watches – Special Design

At Pinterest I collect many inspirations, photographs, quotes and stuff. Divided into over more than one hundred categories in a logical order, I try to keep it simple and organised all I collect.

Seiko – Quarts Sapphire. The 7N82 version. Productname: SXDG64P1 From Seiko.nl

The choice for the Top Five Today subject: ‘Watches – Special Design’

For my 23rd birthday back in November 2015, I bought a watch from all the money gifts I received. I chose a Seiko quartz watch that is mostly silver and has a golden accents. This is how it looks like:

Lots of people have a sports watch and I would love to have one too for when I am sporting, but my daily and/or classic chic watch is this one.

And when I started with my Pinterest boards, one of the first boards was the board: ‘FASHION | Watches’, shortly just ‘Watches’ . Yes as you see I categorise everything there. Therefore today the top five of watches I like that have a special design and do not always look like a daily watch anymore. My watch would fit in the category of ‘silver’ or ‘golden accents’. So expect something different from the watches you will see below.

What kind of watch do you wear? Or is your favorite?

Additional explanation for the title of my blog post:
Pinterest (the main focus) | Top Five Today (the kind of structure (lists)) | Watches (the board) – Special Design (theme from the board)
And just my five favorites in style with and as close as possible to the theme without particular order.
When a cake is blue but has a ship as well, it is probably more suitable for a nautical theme.
